Elisabeth Young-Bruehl

Elisabeth Young-Bruehl earned a PhD in Philosophy in 1974. She wrote a biography on her mentor and dissertation advisor, Hannah Arendt, in 1982. In 1984, she published a second biography, on Anna Freud. She also wrote works such as The Anatomy of Prejudices (1996), Where Do We Fall When We Fall In Love? (2003) and Why Arendt Matters (2006). Young-Bruehl worked as a psychotherapist and until 2007 taught at Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. Until her death in 2011, she lived and worked in Toronto, Canada.
