Ernst van de Wetering

Ernst van de Wetering is an art historian. He studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and became an art teacher. He then studied art history at the University of Amsterdam and was first made assistant, then member and finally, in 1993, chairman of the Rembrandt Research Project. Between 1987 and 2010, he was Professor of Art History at the University of Amsterdam. Among his published works is Rembrandt. The Painter at Work (2000), and he was one of the editors of A Corpus of Rembrandt Paintings (1982-2011).
