Eugene Czolij was called to the Quebec Bar in 1982 and is a senior partner at one of the largest law firms in Quebec. He pleads before the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as all court levels in Quebec. In 2008, he was elected as president of the Ukrainian World Congress, a coordinating body that represents the interests of over 20 million Ukrainians in the Ukranian diaspora, a NGO with special consultative status since its recognition by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2003. Czolij is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress since 1994 and of the prestigious Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute Foundation at the University of Ottawa since 2005. He has received several awards, including the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal, the Order of Merit of Ukraine, and the Shevchenko Medal from the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
