Frans van Dooren

The Netherlands, 1934 - 2005

Frans van Dooren was a translator of Italian and Latin literature. He studied classical languages and Italian in Nijmegen, and became a teacher. He published numerous reviews and articles besides literary translations of Dante’s Divine Comedy and Torquato Tasso’s Jerusalem Delivered. In 1990, he was awarded the Martinus Nijhoff-prize for his translations.
