Geert Corstens was President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands from 2008-2014. He studied law in Nijmegen and earned his PhD in Amsterdam. Between 1977 and 1992, Corstens was public prosecutor in Arnhem, and until 1995 Professor of Criminal Law in Nijmegen. In that year, he was made member of the Supreme Court; he became its Vice President in 2006 and its President in 2008. Corstens also wrote a classic book on Dutch criminal law in 1993.
