Jack Miles is the author of books such as God. A Biography (1996), which earned him the Pulitzer Prize, and Christ. A Crisis in the Life of God (2001). After a Jesuit education in Rome and Jerusalem, he earned a PhD in oriental languages at Harvard University in 1971. He worked as a literary editor with the Los Angeles Times and was an editor with Doubleday. He has been Professor of English and Religious Studies at the University of California in Irvine since 2007. Miles regularly writes on religion, politics and culture in newspapers such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times.
