Jacqueline de Romilly

France, 1913 - 2010

Jacqueline de Romilly studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, graduating in arts. She taught Greek language and literature at the University of Lille and the Sorbonne, and in 1973 was made Professor at the Collège de France, studying Greece and the shaping of political and moral thought. Her best-known works are La Modernité d’Euripide (1986), Le Trésor des savoirs oubliés (1999) and Sous des dehors si calmes (2002).
