Konrad Paul Liessmann is a philosopher, essayist and literary critic. He studied German, history and philosophy in Vienna. His essays on education, citizenship and Zeitgeist appeared in Der Standard and Die Presse, and were collected in Theorie der Unbildung: die Irrtümer der Wissensgesellschaft (2006) and Schönheit (2009). Liessmann has been University Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at the University of Vienna since 2011. He has also been the scientific director of the Philosophicum Lech, a leading centre for scholarly reflection on philosophical, cultural and social issues, since 1997.
