Max Nord

The Netherlands, 1916 - 2008

Max Nord studied political science and was a reporter with Het Vaderland from 1938 onwards. During the German occupation, he worked for illegal newspaper Het Parool. He remained with the newspaper after the Second World War, first as an art editor, then as general editor and Paris correspondent. He wrote books of poetry, novels and biographies, such as Alexander Cohen, een andersdenkende (1960), Klaus Barbie, een van ons (1989), Verzen (1994) and Achterwaarts: memoires (1998). Max Nord was president of the Dutch Writers’ Guild.
