Micha Hamel

Micha Hamel is a conductor, composer and poet. He studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Hamel conducted well-known orchestras such as the Hallé Orchestra in Manchester and the Mozarteum Orchester in Salzburg. He also conducted the Radio Symfonie Orkest, was principal conductor with the Noordhollands Philharmonisch and in 2004 conducted the RAI orchestra in Turin. That same year saw the publication of his first, prize-winning book of poetry, Alle enen opgeteld. It was followed by Luchtwortels (2006) and Nu je het vraagt (2010). Hamel wrote music for various orchestras and theatre and dance companies. In 2008, the Nationale Reisopera staged the premiere of his opera Snow White. In 2013, he was awarded the Jan Campert Prize for Bewegend doel.
