Michael Hamburger

Michael Hamburger was a poet, writer, critic and translator, and taught German literature in London and Reading and at various American universities. Hamburger became well-known for his English translations of the works of German authors such as Büchner, Celan, Goethe, Grass, Hölderlin and Rilke. His own poetry was published as Collected Poems 1941-1994 (1995).
