Mitchell Cohen is an essayist and a political scientist, who specialized in political theory of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and in contemporary European politics. Between 1991 and 2009, he was editor of the cultural-political journal Dissent, which still frequently publishes his articles. His essays and articles also appeared in The New York Times Book Review, The Times Literary Supplement and Les Temps Modernes. Cohen is Professor of Political Science at Bernard Baruch College and the Graduate Center of City University in New York. He wrote such works as The Wager of Lucien Goldmann (1994) and was co-editor of Princeton Readings in Political Thought (1995).
