Naema Tahir

Naema Tahir is a British-Dutch writer and lawyer of Pakistani descent. After studying law, she worked for various Dutch ministries, the UNHCR and the Council of Europe, where she focused on the juridical aspects of human rights and migration. Tahir advocates the freedom and emancipation of Muslim women. Her literary debut was the essay collection Een moslima ontsluiert (2005), which was followed by short stories in Kostbaar bezit (2006). 2011 saw the appearance of Bruid van de dood. Since that year, Tahir has been a columnist for the TV shows Buitenhof and Altijd wat. In 2015, Gesluierde vrijheid was published.
