Nick Bostrom

Nick Bostrom has been Professor in Philosophy at Oxford University, where he is also founding director of the Future of Humanity Institute and leads the Programme on the Impacts of Future Technology, since 2008. He previously worked at Yale. Bostrom studied philosophy, mathematics and artificial intelligence and in 2000 got his PhD at the London School of Economics. He investigates the application of progressive technology, ethics and human enhancement, and calls himself a transhumanist. Among his publications are Global Catastrophic Risks (2005), Human Enhancement (2010) and Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies (2014).
