Peter Sellars

Peter Sellars is a theatre director. He studied at Harvard and was artistic director of the Boston Shakespeare Company, the American National Theater in Washington, the Los Angeles Festivals (1990 and 1993) and the Salzburger Festspiele (1992 and 1994). Among his unconventional, even controversial operatic productions are Mozart’s Così Fan Tutte, Handel’s Julio Cesare and Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre. In 1999, Peter Sellars received the Erasmus Prize for his work. Besides working as a theatre director, he also teaches at the University of California.
