Victor Hugo

Victor Hugo is considered one of the most important and influential French authors of the nineteenth century. He wrote novels, poems, plays, essays, memoirs and political speeches, and left an extensive correspondence. Among his still widely read novels are The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1831) and Les Misérables (1862).
