Wim van den Goorbergh received his MA in Econometrics in 1971 and his PhD in Economics in 1978, both cum laude at Tilburg University. He worked at Tilburg University (1971-1980) as an Assistent Professor in Economics. In 1980 he joined Rabobank and was active in several fields: international banking, merchant banking, securities and financial markets. In 1993 he became a member of the Executive Board, responsible for retail banking, asset management and insurance. From 1998 to 2002 he was CFO, and from 2000 Vice Chairman. Since 2002, Wim van den Goorbergh holds a number of non-executive mandates in companies such as NIBC Bank, Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten, Mediq, Dela and Welten. He is supervisor at the Radboud University and the Radboud medical hospital in Nijmegen. In 2009 he was a member of the Maas Committee that advised the Dutch banking sector how to deal with the consequences of the financial crisis.
