Carlo Michelstaedter

Carlo Michelstaedter studied art in Florence and wrote an influential PhD thesis entitled La persuasione e la rettorica (‘Persuasion and Rhetorics’, 1909). He committed suicide shortly after completing it. After his death, his poetry, letters, philosophical works and drawings were published. Well-known works are Il dialogo della salute (‘The Dialogue of Health’, 1909) and Poesie (1905-1910).
