Ron Jones
Ron Jones (USA, 1940) is an author, playwright, and spoken word artist. After obtaining a Master’s in Education at Stanford University, Jones taught first at Cubberley High School in Palo Alto and then for thirty years theater and sports to the physically and mentally disabled at the Janet Pomeroy Center in San Fransisco. Three of Jones’ stories have been made into movies: The Wave (1981), The Acorn People (1981) and One Special Victory (1991); which have garnered an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Peabody for their producers. Jones’ book Kids Called Crazy (1982) was nominated for a Pulitzer, and Say Ray (1984) won him an American Book Award. His 1967 classroom experiment in fascism has been produced as the feature film Die Welle (2008), the documentary Lesson Plan (2010), the TV series Wir Sind Die Welle (2019) and the documentary The Invisible Line (2019). The novelized version of The Wave is printed in 23 languages and required reading in German and Israeli schools.
