Ronald Plasterk

Ronald Plasterk is a politician for the Dutch Labour Party. He studied economics and biology, gained a PhD in science and was a researcher in Dutch as well as foreign laboratories. In 1997, he was made Professor of Genetics in Amsterdam, a post he was later to hold in Utrecht as well. Plasterk was a columnist for de Volkskrant until he became Minister of Education, Culture and Science in 2007. Since 2012 he has been Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
