A Celebratory Symposium
Nexus 100. A Celebratory Symposium
This fall, we will publish the hundredth edition of our Dutch journal Nexus, in which we have been bringing together the most beautiful, inspiring, urgent and timeless essays from international authors since 1991. A real milestone and a celebratory event, that we will not let go by unnoticed. At the occassion of the publication of Nexus 100, we will organize a festive celebratory symposium on Saturday 3 October in the DeLaMar theater in Amsterdam.
Nexus 100 centers on ‘A New Song of the Earth for the Waste Land’, after Gustav Mahler’s ‘Das Lied von der Erde’ en T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land. During the symposium on 3 October, the world-renowned Busch Trio together with French violist Serguei Milstein will perform Mahler’s Piano Quartet in A Minor among other music. Leon Wieseltier – who has been closely involved with the Nexus Institute since 2001, and who, drawing on years of experience working as literary editor for The New Republic and as editor-in-chief for Liberties, knows everything about keeping alive a cultural journal – will give the Celebratory Lecture on ‘The Audacity of Liberalism’. Following the main program, Dutch members of the Nexus Institute will be able to pick up their copy of Nexus 100. International Nexus members will be able to follow the program through a livestream on our website.
