Adriaan van Dis

Adriaan van Dis studied Dutch in Amsterdam and was editor with NRC Handelsblad before making his debut as a writer in 1983 with the novella Nathan Sid, and as a TV presenter with a book programme for VPRO. He then added novels, short stories, plays and essays to his literary oeuvre. Van Dis appears regularly on Dutch television with documentary series on Africa and Indonesia.
