Alastair Hannay

Alastair Hannay is a philosopher. He was educated in Edinburgh and London and was Professor of Philosophy at the universities of Trondheim (1975-1985) and Oslo (1990-1996). Between 1971 and 2002, he was general editor of the philosophical journal Inquiry. Hannay is mostly known as the translator and biographer of Kierkegaard, having published works such as Kierkegaard (The Arguments of the Philosophers) (1999) and Kierkegaard: A Biography (2001). He also wrote books such as Mental Images — A Defence (1971) and Human Consciousness (1990).
