Alexander King

Alexander King was scientific adviser to the Ministry of Production during World War II, and became leader of the British Scientific Mission in Washington DC in 1944, as well as Scientific Attaché at the British embassy in the US. After the war, he worked as director of science and education for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). In 1968, he was among the founders of the Club of Rome, whose director he remained until 1984. He published a large number of articles, mostly on science, politics, education and the impact of science on society. He published such books as Science Policy (1974) and The State of the Planet (1981).
