Alexander Nehamas

Alexander Nehamas is a philosopher and a literary scholar. He studied at Princeton University, where he has been Professor of Philosophy since 1990, after professorships in Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh. He wrote the books Nietzsche: Life as Literature (1985), The Art of Living: Socratic Reflections from Plato to Foucault (1998) and Only A Promise of Happiness: The Place of Beauty in a World of Art (2008), on beauty as a philosophical notion and as a value judgment in art.
