Busch Trio

The Busch Trio is one of today’s leading piano trios, formed by a group of friends. More than fifteen years ago, Dutch musician Mathieu van Bellen (violin) and the Israeli brothers Ori and Omri Epstein (cello and piano) met in London, where their personal bond and shared love of chamber music brought them together. The ensemble’s name pays tribute to the legendary violinist Adolf Busch, who was a great inspiration to the trio and on whose violin Van Bellen plays.

The Busch Trio is now based in Amsterdam and performs at many of the world’s leading concert halls and at prestigious festivals in Europe and the US. Their work has been recognized with numerous awards and prizes in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Belgium, and France. Their achievements are also captured in their extensive discography. The trio released their widely acclaimed recordings of Dvořák, Schubert, and a recent album with works of Ravel and Shostakovich. Their current major project — the complete recording of Beethoven’s piano trios, spread across four albums — promises to further establish their reputation as world-class interpreters of great repertoire. The first album in this series was awarded the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
