Damien Chazelle
Damien Chazelle is an Oscar winning film director, screenwriter and producer. He discovered his passion for filmmaking at a young age and studied filmmaking in the Visual and Environmental Studies department at Harvard University. His determination and talent led him to pursue his dreams in the competitive world of Hollywood – with enormous success. His critically acclaimed film Whiplash (2014) won numerous awards, including three Oscars. Two years later it was his enchanting musical film La La Land (2016), starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, that truly cemented his status as a cinematic maestro: at age 32 he became the youngest ever to win the Oscar for best director for this blockbuster, which won six Oscars in total. His latest movie, Babylon (2022), with Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, is the genius kind of artwork that is received with mixed reviews, but that will – also according to Stephen King – be recognized as one of the true classics in the world of cinema in twenty years from now. Amidst his success, Chazelle hasn’t shied away from addressing the hardships of Hollywood, speaking openly about the challenges of the industry.
