E.J. Dionne

E.J. Dionne Jr. is a journalist and political commentator. He studied sociology at Harvard and gained a PhD at Oxford. He became known as a social observer while working as a correspondent for The New York Times, as a columnist for The Washington Post (since 1993), as a radio commentator and as a columnist for the Catholic journal Commonweal. Dionne is a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and at Saint Anselm College, and he is University Professor in the Foundations of Democracy and Culture at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute. 1991 saw the appearance of his influential book Why Americans Hate Politics. He also wrote Stand Up Fight Back: Republican Toughs, Democratic Wimps, and Politics of Revenge (2004), Souled Out: Reclaiming Faith and Politics after the Religious Right (2008) and Our Divided Political Heart: The Battle for the American Idea in an Age of Discontent (2012).
