Ernst Hirsch Ballin

Ernst Hirsch Ballin is Professor of Dutch and European Constitutional Law at Tilburg University and Professor of Human Rights at the University of Amsterdam. He was a Minister of Justice in two Christian democratic cabinets: from 2005 to 2010 and from 1989 to 1994. Hirsch Ballin studied law at the University of Amsterdam and was named Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at Tilburg University before embarking upon a career in politics. He has written a number of texts on law, ethics, religion and philosophy.
