Fredrik Ullén

Fredrik Ullén is a pianist and neuroscientist. He was educated at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Between 1996 and 2006 he recorded the etudes of György Ligeti on cd, and in 2006, his solo recordings of Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji came out. Apart from his musical career, Ullén is a brain researcher at the Stockholm Brain Institute of the Karolinska Institutet, where he has been Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience since 2011 and studies the meaning of music for the workings and development of the brain, particularly that of musicians.
