Gijs Schreuders

Gijs Schreuders is a journalist and professor at the School for Journalism in Utrecht, the Netherlands. After studying law, he joined communist newspaper De Waarheid and was its editor between 1977 and 1982. He was also a member of the Dutch parliament for the Communist Party. He described his break with communism, which led to his departure from politics in 1983, in De man die faalde (1992). Schreuders was a columnist forde Volkskrant, a legal commentator at associated press service GPD and a writer at NRC Handelsblad.
