H.C. ten Berge

H.C. ten Berge is translator and writer of essays, prose and poetry. In 1967, not long after his debut novel Poolsneeuw (1964) appeared, he began the literary journal Raster. Among his works are the well-known novels Het geheim van een opgewekt humeur (1986), for which he was awarded the Multatuli Prize, Blauwbaards ontwaken (2003), his collected poems Materia Prima (1994), Voorbeeldige vertellingen en hun versluierde betekenis (2009) and his translations of the works of Ezra Pound. In 2006, Ten Berge received the P.C. Hooft Prize for his entire oeuvre.
