Johannette Zomer

Johannette Zomer is a soprano. After a brief career as a microbiologist, she decided to begin training as a singer at the Amsterdam conservatory in 1990. Her opera debut followed in 1996 with the Nationale Reisopera, when she was Tebaldo in Verdi’s Don Carlo. With the same company, she sang the parts of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Euridice in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. In 2009, Zomer performed with the Dutch Opera in Cavalli’s Ercole Flamante. She worked with conductors such as Iván Fischer, Valery Gergiev and Ton Koopman. On the cd Love & Madness (2009), accompanied by Bart Schneemann, she sings arias by Handel. From 2013 she has been performing with the Tulipa Consort Ensemble.
