John Donatich has been director of Yale University Press since 2003 and previously worked at other well-known American publishing houses, such as Basic Books, HarperCollins and Putnam. In 2005, his autobiographical novel Ambivalence, a Love Story: Portrait of a Marriage appeared. Donatich was involved in the decision, in 2009, to refrain from including the Danish cartoons of the prophet Muhammad in the book The Cartoons That Shook the World, for fear of violent reactions.
