art historian, Picasso biographer
John Richardson
John Richardson was the biographer of Pablo Picasso, whose acquaintance he made while staying in France. In the 1960s, Richardson organized expositions with works by Picasso and Braque in New York, which led to his appointment by auction house Christie’s as director of the new US branch. Besides the three-volume A Life of Picasso (1991-2007), he wrote articles for The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, and he was the presenter of the documentary film Picasso: Magic, Sex, Death (2001).
