Jonathan Sacks

Jonathan Sacks was Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth from 1991 to 2013. He graduated from Cambridge with first class honours in philosophy, gained his PhD at King’s College in London and taught at the universities of Oxford, Edinburgh and Jerusalem. He was also the Principal of Jews’ College (currently London School of Jewish Studies), the oldest rabbinical seminary in the world, and rabbi of various London synagogues. Sacks was Professor of Law, Ethics and the Bible at King’s College and published works such as The Dignity of Difference: How to Avoid the Clash of Civilizations (2002) and The Great Partnership: God, Science and the Search For Meaning (2011). In 2005 he was knighted.
