Khaldoun Al Nabwani

Khaldoun Al Nabwani is a philosopher and publisher. After studying in Damascus and Paris, he obtained his PhD at the Sorbonne with a dissertation on the political philosophy of Jürgen Habermas and Jacques Derrida. When the Syrian revolution started he joined the Syrian National Council, the political body of the opposition, but he soon stepped down, disappointed with the dominance of conservative Islamic groups within the Council. Al Nabwani published books and articles in French and Arabic, such as Habermas et Derrida: divergence théorique et convergence pratique? (2013), and is working on a book on the figure of the ‘stranger’ in the history of political philosophy.
