Kirsten Verdel studied political science and worked with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the local Rotterdam elections in 2006, she was campaign leader for socialist party PvdA. In 2007, she was the recipient of the prestigious Sauvé Scholarship, which brought her to the US, where she worked at the national headquarters of Barack Obama’s Democratic Party during the 2008 American Presidential Election. On this period, she wrote Van Rotterdam naar het Witte Huis (2009). In 2012, Project Homerus came out, on the downfall of the DSB Bank. Verdel is currently a communications and media strategist with a communications bureau.
