Leo Samama

Leo Samama studied musicology in Utrecht and composition with Rudolf Escher. He taught at the Utrecht academy of music and Utrecht University, and was a reviewer and writer for de Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad, Haagse Post and Luister. Samama was artistic director of the Residentie Orkest in The Hague and wrote various books on Dutch music. His many compositions are performed in the Netherlands and abroad, and his lectures succesfully appeared on cd. Owing to his central place in the Dutch music scene, he was decorated in 2010 by Queen Beatrix.
