Michael Steinberg

Michael Steinberg is a historian who specializes in German Jewish cultural history and music. He is Professor of History and Music at Brown University and director of the Cogut Center for the Humanities. He has been editor of The Musical Quarterly since 1992 and of The Opera Quarterly since 2005. Among his works are Listening to Reason. Culture, Subjectivity and Nineteenth-Century Music (2006) and Judaism Musical and Unmusical (2007).
