Milovan Djilas

Milovan Djilas was a communist politician. He was advisor to Tito when he suddenly fell into discredit due to his ideas on politics and economic reform, and was put in prison. A second jail sentence followed the publication of Klasa. Kritika savremenog komunizma (‘The New Class: An Analysis of the Communist System’, 1957) and Razgovori s Staljinom (‘Conversations with Stalin’, 1962), books which were critical of the communist oligarchy. After his release, he published many political analyses, such as Pad Nove Klase (‘The Fall of the New Class’, 1994).
