Modris Eksteins

Modris Eksteins is Professor of History at the University of Toronto and specializes in the cultural and intellectual history of (central) Europe. His best-known works are Rites of Spring: The Great War and the Birth of the Modern Age (1989) and Walking Since Daybreak: A Story of Eastern Europe, World War II and the Heart of Our Century (1999). 2012 saw the appearance of Solar Dance: Van Gogh, Forgery and the Eclipse of Certainty on Van Gogh and his political and cultural surroundings.
