Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Nassim Nicholas Taleb is an essayist and scholar who became famous worldwide through his three books: Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets (2001), The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable (2007) and Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder (2012), in which he points to the important role of coincidence and unpredictability in economics, politics, philosophy and history. Taleb studied business economics at the universities of Paris and Pennsylvania, and specialized in risk management. In 2006, he abandoned his job as a derivatives trader for a career in science and became Distinguished Professor of Risk Engineering at New York University.
