Rudolf Vrba

Rudolf Vrba escaped from Auschwitz in April of 1944, and informed the allied forces of the terrors in the camps in the famous Vrba-Wetzler Report. It was published by the BBC and The New York Times, causing Hungary to cave in under international pressure and stop the transports of Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz. After the war, Vrba studied chemistry in Prague and became Professor of Pharmacology at the University of British Columbia in Canada.
