Xenophon

Xenophon was a Greek philosopher. He was a member of the circle around Socrates. During the Peloponnesian War, he served in the Spartan army, which led to his banishment from enemy Athens. He also took part in the campaign of the Persian prince Cyrus, which he narrates in his work Anabasis. Xenophon’s oeuvre consists of treatises on the army, politics and economics; he also wrote on the life and thought of Socrates, for instance in Memorabilia.
