Alfonso Cuarón

Alfonso Cuarón is an award-winning film director. He studied film at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and worked as a television and movie director, before he shot to global fame with his 2001 film Y tu mamá también, which was nominated for an Academy Award for best original screenplay. Cuarón next directed the critically acclaimed third Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004). The dystopian drama Children of Men (2006) won three further Academy Award nominations, and the widely acclaimed Gravity (2013), a stunning sci-fi thriller with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, won him his first Academy Award for best director. His latest film Roma received glowing reviews; it was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won three, for best directing, best cinematography and best foreign language film.
