Anatol Lieven

Anatol Lieven investigates globalization at the New America Foundation. Previously, he was a researcher with the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington. Between 1988 and 1989, he was a correspondent for The Times in Pakistan, reporting on the final days of the Soviet occupation in Afghanistan and the beginning of the Afghan civil wars. Among his books are Chechnya. Tombstone of Russian Power (1998) and Pakistan: A Hard Country (2011).
