Aykan Erdemir
Aykan Erdemir studied international relations in Ankara and anthropology and Middle Eastern studies at Harvard. As a leading scholar and politician, his work focuses on (the promotion of) pluralism, minority rights and religious freedoms. Until 2015 he was a member of the Turkish parliament for the main opposition party CHP and he is one of the founding members of the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief. Erdemir works for various organizations which negotiate the relationship between Turkey and the European Union. His articles appeared in various academic journals and he co-edited Rethinking Global Migration: Practices, Policies, and Discourses in the European Neighbourhood (2008).
