Erhard Busek

Erhard Busek was a politician for the Österreichische Volkspartei, and Vice-Chancellor of Austria. He studied law and was deputy mayor of Vienna between 1978 and 1989. In 1989, he became Minister of Science and Research, and in 1994 Minister of Education. He was also Vice-Chancellor from 1991 until 1995. He left Austrian politics in 1996 and has been an advocate of European cooperation and culture from various positions. He was director of the Institut für den Donauraum und Mitteleuropa and published works such as Mitteleuropa: Eine Spurensicherung (1997), Offenes Tor nach Osten (2003) and Zu wenig, zu spät. Europa braucht ein besseres Krisenmanagement (2007).
