Frido Mann

Frido Mann was the favourite grandson of Thomas Mann, who immortalized him in Doctor Faustus. He grew up in the United States and Switzerland and studied music in Zürich and Rome. He then went on to study theology in Munich, obtaining a PhD in that field in 1969 at the university of Münster. After studies in psychology, he embarked on an academic career which in 1986 culminated in a Professorship in psychology in Münster. Since the 1980s, Frido Mann has been active as a novelist as well. He has described the membership of a famous family as ‘a burden, but also a privilege’.
